MPs today voted in favour of assisted dying as historic legislation cleared its first hurdle in the House of Commons following five hours of emotionally-charged debate. The Commons approved the second reading of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill by 330 votes to 275, majority 55, to continue its progress through Parliament. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer voted for the Bill but – in a sign of Cabinet divisions over the issue – Deputy PM Angela Rayner, Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Health Secretary Wes Streeting and Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood all opposed the legislation.

The unnamed sniper, and commander of the ‘Ghosts of Bakhmut’, also claimed that alongside his elite unit, he had exceeded a staggering 1,200 targets eliminated in just 17 months. Speaking to Corriere, Ghost said simply that ‘killing an enemy soldier is like a normal job’ explaining how he takes aim, makes sure he is in range, and that he can’t be spotted.

The Russian president signaled he was open to talks with the incoming commander-in-chief as he threatened to use ‘all means of destruction’ available if the West gives nuclear weapons to Ukraine. The Kremlin strongman also tore into how Trump and his family had been treated by his critics and called attacks on him ‘revolting’.

The Israeli prison guard who executed the Nazi mass murderer Adolf Eichmann has died aged 86. Shalom Nagar performed the hanging of the war criminal after he was convicted over his role in organising the Holocaust, in which around six million Jews were murdered. For months after the execution, Nagar was haunted by Eichmann’s swollen face and the sound that trapped air had made when it escaped from his body as he was removed from the noose.

Gregg Wallace was hauled in for a 90-minute meeting after two women complained about the star’s ‘disgusting’ 𝑠e𝑥ual jokes. Wallace, 60, was warned in 2018 about his behaviour on Impossible Celebrities by a BBC executive after the women claimed he boasted to them about being a good lover. It was also alleged he would tell them how often he had 𝑠e𝑥 and crack unsavoury gags that made them feel uncomfortable.
