“No point” in defeating enemies, she assures
In a recent interview with Time magazine, Taylor Swift opened up about her approach to dealing with her enemies, saying that there is “no point” in trying to defeat them. The Grammy winner explained that she has learned to focus on her own art and let karma take care of the rest. She stated: “Trash takes itself out every single time.”
Swift’s comments come as her nemeses, Kanye West and Scooter Braun, have seemingly experienced professional and personal downfalls. Braun, who was accused by Swift of not giving her the opportunity to purchase her own masters, parted ways with several of his high-profile clients in 2023. Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, and Justin Bieber all decided to stop working with the music executive as their manager.
While Braun initially joked about the departures on Twitter, he later shared a cryptic quote about starting “a new life.” Swift believes that her re-recordings of her music have given her a newfound strength in dealing with the situation. She stated, “It’s all in how you deal with loss. I respond to extreme pain with defiance.”
Braun’s professional losses came just one year after his divorce from his wife of eight years was finalized, costing him $20 million. Swift had accused him of wanting her masters for “nefarious reasons.” However, a source close to Braun insists that he had no reason to have a vendetta against Swift. The source claims that he purchased the label for investment purposes and had offered her the masters numerous times.
In addition to Braun, Swift also addressed her past feud with Kanye West in the interview. Their bad blood dates back to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech to say that Beyoncé should have won. West has faced major scrutiny recently for controversial remarks he made about the Jewish community, resulting in him being dropped from major brand deals.
Despite the ups and downs of her career and personal life, Swift remains grateful for every second she gets to be doing what she loves. She believes that nothing is permanent and that karma will ultimately take care of those who have wronged her. As she continues to focus on her art and making music, Swift’s fans can expect her to rise above the drama and come out stronger on the other side.
