Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has shared his thoughts on the Premier League title race and he had some interesting words to say about the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Manchester United.
For Liverpool’s man in the dugout, he is seemingly expecting all of the above to be challenging for the Premier League title, as he also was keen to highlight ‘incredible’ Aston Villa.
Unai Emery’s side beat Manchester City 1-0 on Wednesday night, but Jurgen Klopp was keen to tell the world that it would be ’the biggest joke in the history of football’ if Pep Guardiola’s side were written off in the title race, as he told his post-match press conference.
The German was also keen to tell Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, after their 97th-minute winner at Luton Town, that the next game ‘starts again from 0-0’ and ‘not 4-3 already’.
Liverpool scored two dramatic late goals to beat Fulham 4-3 at Anfield over the weekend and then Arsenal replicated that at Luton.
These could prove to be huge moments in the title race, as Arsenal are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Jurgen Klopp on Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester United
On whether the title race will go right to the wire: “I have no clue,” responded Klopp. “If we win it, I hope not.
On Villa’s win against Man City: “If somebody would write Man City off, then it would be the biggest joke in the history of football. That really makes no sense.
“Arsenal is fighting. They had a similar experience as we had a few days before (against Fulham). It feels really good. Anyway, you have to play the next game from the start again. It’s 0-0 and not 4-3 already. You don’t score a late goal. You don’t take that into the next game.
“Aston Villa is incredible. Man United is there. Don’t play exactly the football they want. But their points are like crazy – the league is incredibly strong.”

First and foremost, who is in the race? The obvious contenders are Manchester City, whilst Arsenal are repeating the same patterns from last season and it seems as though normal service has resumed at Anfield.
But could third-placed Aston Villa, who beat the champions in a dominating fashion, also be considered?
There have been 15 games played and you have to say yes, at this moment in time.
But come February, when the real pressure starts to hit the fan, that’s when everyone will know who has the stomach to fight for English football’s biggest crown.
