Cameron Norrie picks greatest between Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal & Roger Federer

Cameron Norrie has named Novak Djokovic as the Big Three he personally finds the toughest to play against. Norrie, a former world No 8, has played against Djokovic four times and he has as many losses versus the Serb. Their latest meeting came last week, when Djokovic ousted Norrie 6-4 6-4 in the Davis Cup in Malaga.

In his matches against Rafael Nadal Nadal, Norrie lost their first four meetings but defeated the Spaniard at the start of the 2023 season at the United Cup. Against Roger Federer, Norrie played the Swiss just once as he suffered a four-set defeat in their 2021 Wimbledon third-round meeting.

Tennis365 asked Norrie to name the greatest between the Big Three. “Djokovic was at the highest level. It was the toughest match-up for me. I played Federer at Wimbledon two years ago and had a lot of chances in that match.

I didn’t start too well and the first couple of sets in that match could have done differently. He played really well in the fourth set. But Novak has taken his game to the next level in the last few years and that is proved by the titles he has won,” Norrie told Tennis365.

Norrie on Djokovic’s astonishing service quality

In four matches against Djokovic, Norrie managed to win just one set. In their latest match, Djokovic had 12 break points while he did not allow Norrie a single break point.

Now, Norrie admits Djokovic was basically untouchable on his service. “Seeing how well he managed his service games in the Davis Cup match and how well he was hitting his spots was crazy. I think got to 30 (points) once his serves and I think I was returning well.

So it was a good learning. If I could get to the point where I can manage my service games like him, it would be nice. I watched him in the ATP Finals against (Jannik) Sinner and he couldn’t even get close to it at all. The spots he can hit consistently is amazing. His serve has improved more than any other shot,” Norrie said.
