Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola provided an update on Erling Haaland’s injury but did not say if he will play against Crystal Palace.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The goal machine did not travel with the City squad for their Premier League clash against Luton Town during the weekend as he suffered a bone injury. The manager has now provided a fresh injury and revealed when the striker would be back for training.
WHAT GUARDIOLA SAID
Speaking to reporters, the Catalan manager said: “He will be back on Thursday, day after tomorrow, and we see how he feels. I cannot answer [if he can play on Saturday], I don’t know right now. The next press conference I can be more precise about his condition.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
On Sunday, the City head coach claimed that the Norwegian could hardly walk after the team’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa last week. But the striker’s condition has been improving quickly since then. Despite Haaland missing from the team, the defending champions came back from behind to narrowly edge out Luton 2-1 last Saturday.
WHAT NEXT FOR HAALAND?
The 23-year-old, who is currently leading the Premier League Golden Boot race with 14 goals, will be back in training on Thursday as revealed by his coach but it remains to be seen if he fully regains his fitness on time for the team’s league clash against Roy Hodgson’s Palace.
