Goldie Hawn has a message about mental health.
The 77-year-old actress shared her reflections on the importance of taking care of yourself in an Instagram post on Oct. 10.
“It’s World Mental Health Day, and as we know, we’ve had so many challenges in terms of our mental health,” Hawn said in the video, which is set in a garden.
“This time is actually challenging to a lot of people for a lot of different reasons,” she said. “But I would say, it’s important to take care of ourselves, important to recognize when we feel anxious, when we realize that life isn’t very good.”
Hawn also urged viewers to take a “time out” to engage in activities that spark “joy and prayer.” She shared that whenever she feels overwhelmed, she breathes deeply and reflects on all the things she’s grateful for, adding, “There’s a heck of a lot of them.”
She further stressed that self-care in this manner is not only deserved but “essential.”
“It doesn’t matter the world you live in,” Hawn emphasized. “It matters how you feel about yourself. And what you’re giving to others and what others are giving to you.”
Fans responded with appreciation.
“Sometimes we just need to hear that it’s ok, Thank you!” one commenter wrote.

Another wrote: “I’ve cried in my car in a parking lot every day for a few weeks. Mental health is important! Thanks for bringing awareness.”
The actress has long been a champion for mental health advocacy. In 2003, Hawn founded The Goldie Hawn Foundation and MindUp, a nonprofit organization in response to growing concern about the state of children’s mental health. The foundation was established to equip children with tools to manage their emotions, enhance resilience, and understand the workings of their brain, guiding them from despair to a more optimistic mindset.
She also delved into the topic of mental health in her 2011 book, 10 Mindful Minutes, emphasizing the significance of social and emotional skills for leading a happier, healthier life.
Hawn, mother to Kate and Oliver Hudson from her second marriage to Bill Hudson, has cherished a four-decade-long relationship with actor Kurt Russell, with whom she has a son, Wyatt Hudson, 37.
