A DREAMY STORYLINE
Origin story: WONKA tells the tale of how how the young inventor, magician and chocolatier became Willy Wonka
This film is just pure, unadulterated magic. Detailing the story of how the insanely creative, passionate and quirky young Willy Wonker spent years perfecting his craft before arriving in a new city to take on the big ‘Chocolate cartel,’ it highlights the unstoppable power of daring to dream.
With lofty ambitions and a limitless imagination you cannot help but wish for Willy to succeed and when he says: ‘Mark my words, this is going to be the greatest chocolate shop the world has ever seen,’ you believe him.
This delicious tale is based on the extraordinary character at the centre of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book, but this film is a fresh take on the classic story focusing on the start of Wonka’s life.
With an appeal to adults and children alike, it is the perfect family movie, best enjoyed all together.
Dreamy: Timothée Chalamet is impeccably cast in the leading role as the fresh-faced, glittering-eyed Willy
ALL-STAR CAST
Timothée Chalamet is impeccably cast in the leading role as the fresh-faced, glittering-eyed Willy. Effortlessly cool in real life, Timothée transforms into the ridiculously optimistic inventor, magician and chocolatier at the beginning of his career.
The wider cast list is just as impressive with young talent Calah Lane (The Day Shall Come) appearing as Willy’s ally Noodle, Emmy and Peabody Award winner Keegan-Michael Key (The Prom) Paterson Joseph (Vigil) Matt Lucas (Little Britain) and Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) also star.
The film also introduces details how Wonka came to meet an Oompa Loompa for the first time, with Hugh Grant taking on the iconic roll in a very humorous way.

BEHIND THE SCENES CREW
The talent behind the camera is just as impressive with writer/director Paul King at the helm. King reunites with his Paddington colleagues with David Heyman and Alexandra Derbyshire as producers. Producer Luke Kelly (Roald Dahl’s The Witches) is also on board.
There’s no doubt that this dream team has created something extremely special.
