Dragon Ball FighterZ Is Finally Getting Its First Test for Important Online Feature

After several delays and fan demands, Dragon Ball FighterZ finally announces the first dates for the beta test of an important online feature.

Bandai Namco and Arc System Works have announced the first public dates for Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s rollback netcode beta test after numerous delays. The fighting game developer announced Dragon Ball FighterZ would be getting rollback netcode back during EVO 2022, along with a next-gen console version that will also include rollback netcode integration. However, after that initial announcement, fans were left in the dark about when this game’s netcode would get upgraded to use rollback instead of delay-based netcode.

For some competitive players, a stable online environment is the make-or-break point of a fighting game. Rollback netcode is a useful feature that helps improve the online stability of a fighting game, used to cut down the amount of delay and latency a player would experience compared to delay-based netcode. Several modern fighting games have implemented rollback, such as Guilty Gear StriveKing of Fighters 15Street Fighter 6, and even the upcoming Tekken 8, just to name a few. Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s announcement was similarly celebrated, though several delays regarding it have put a damper on some fans’ expectations. Fans will finally get the first chance to test FighterZ‘s rollback netcode at the end of November and into December.

This announcement was made on the official Twitter account, with a video of Dragon Ball FighterZ producer, Tomoko Hiroki, proudly announcing that the first rollback beta test will be held from November 30 to December 10. This public beta test will be available for those who own the PC version of FighterZ on Steam, meaning fans who own the game on other platforms won’t be able to participate in this test for the time being.

Hiroki also takes the opportunity to apologize to the fans of Dragon Ball FighterZ who had been waiting for this update, especially over the multiple times it had been delayed. She expresses that the developers are grateful to all the fans who have been patient as they worked hard to build a satisfying online environment. Hiroki tells fans to check the game’s official website and social media for more details about the rollback netcode beta test before it starts.

As previously mentioned, the next-gen versions of Dragon Ball FighterZ will have rollback netcode implemented already, so this PC version beta test will help stress test the environment before introducing another test on consoles. The next-gen re-releases of the fighting game will include free upgrade paths for previous owners of the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions. The previous announcement at EVO 2022 had excluded FighterZ‘s Nintendo Switch version, so fans shouldn’t expect this version of the fighting game to get rollback.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a stylish and fast-paced fighting game where players can craft teams of their favorite Dragon Ball characters and pit them against one another.
