Man Utd loanee Mason Greenwood got on the score sheet and registered an assist for Getafe as they convincingly beat Sevilla on Saturday.

Getafe won by three goals to nil. Borja Mayoral opened the score in the fifth minute to set his side on their way.

Greenwood won the duel and had a great assist for his teammates

Jaime Mata’s goal eight minutes before the break handed Getafe a little more breathing room before Greenwood scored from the spot-kick in the 80th minute to secure the victory at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

What’s special is that Greenwood gained momentum and shot with his right foot when taking the penalty for Getafe. Greenwood is naturally left-footed. However, every time he takes a penalty, he shoots with his right foot.

This comes from a time when the player missed a penalty kick in the U13 MU shirt. “I’m more left-footed than right-footed,” Greenwood revealed in 2019.

“But when I missed a penalty with my left foot in the match against U13 Man City, since then I have only scored (penalty) with my right foot.”

Greenwood has now scored two La Liga goals since making the move to Spain on transfer deadline day.

In his last six league matches, the Englishman has also managed an impressive three assists.

Against Sevilla, Greenwood’s assist was a thing of beauty. He spotted Mata’s run down the left channel and picked him out perfectly to run through on the Sevilla goal and score with a perfectly weighted low pass.

During the time he was on the pitch for Getafe, Greenwood had 37 touches of the ball to his name.

He successfully delivered 19 of the 23 passes he attempted, managing a pass accuracy of 83%. The United academy graduate made three key passes.

Greenwood attempted three crosses but found his intended target on only one occasion.

The forward tried to ping three long balls. He was successful twice. The player created one big chance and had a total of two shots to his name.

Greenwood engaged in nine ground fights, winning only one of them. He didn’t have to accept any airborne challenges. There’s no doubt that the 22-year-old will be eager to improve his defensive capabilities. He was once again dribbled past.

The next trip for Getafe is another away game, on Tuesday against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

Following his initial stint at Getafe, where he mostly served as a bench warmer, the English striker has been starting for the La Liga team ever since. He was crucial in enabling Madrid’s representative to perform brilliantly.

Throughout the course of the season, Greenwood has made 14 appearances for Getafe in all competitions, recording 5 goals and 4 assists.

Greenwood agreed to a one-year loan from MU to Getafe for the 2023 summer transfer window. The “Red Devils” haven’t ruled out asking former players to come back for the next season.
