Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana rubbished the famous Anfield atmosphere after he kept a clean sheet against Liverpool on Sunday.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Onana kept his sixth clean sheet in the Premier League on Sunday as United and Liverpool played out a dull goalless draw at Anfield. Both teams put in flat performances, something that was mirrored by the home fans failing to live up to their reputation for generating intimidating atmospheres.
WHAT ONANA SAID
When asked by reporters at full-time about the often intimidating atmosphere at Anfield, Onana said: “I felt nothing.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The subdued atmosphere was something Sky Sports pundit and former United defender Gary Neville picked up on during and after the match. “The atmosphere was the worst I’ve seen at Anfield, ever,” he said.
The draw saw Liverpool fail to take back top spot in the table from Arsenal, who beat Brighton 2-0 earlier on Sunday.
WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL AND UNITED?
Jurgen Klopp will hope that the Anfield faithful will be in better voice when Arsenal come to town on Saturday for a huge top-of-the-table clash.
Onana and United will try and build on the result when they travel to West Ham on the same weekend.
