Chelsea will be desperate to sign a striker like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen because of his goals.
According to the Evening Standard, Victor Osimhen is a top target for Chelsea and could be about to sign a new contract with a £112m release clause, which would make him attainable for a club as rich as the Blues.
However, the 24-year-old showed yesterday that he is also capable of setting up goals. He produced one of the best assists you will probably ever see after doing a bunch of kick ups before firing the ball across to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to blast home.
That goal was Kvaratskhelia’s fifth in Serie A this season and the Georgian has also been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, if Osimhen does go on to join Chelsea or another side, it is really hard to imagine Napoli also letting go of Kvaratskhelia.
Victor Osimhen continues to show why Chelsea should sign him
Nicolas Jackson was able to grab a goal in Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Sheffield United on Saturday.
It was his seventh of the Premier League season, which is quite good given that he is still just 22 and has only arrived in England.
Chelsea have made much worse signings than the Senegal international. But even if he is doing a decent job now, you cannot help but feel that he is not enough to get Mauricio Pochettino‘s side to where they want to be.
Jackson lacks consistency and is not a proven forward. There is no guarantee that he will score another seven goals in the top flight this term.
Osimhen, in contrast, is more polished at 24 and has shown in Serie A that he can find the back of the net on a consistent basis. His performance against Cagliari yesterday has shown why the Nigerian as Chelsea’s leading striker with Jackson covering him could be the way to go.
