The Club Renaissance event in Salvador, Bahia was too excited for the mute challenge.
Queen Bey has visited her hive in Brazil.
Following the Brazilian premiere of her concert documentary Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé on Thursday, Beyoncé made a surprise appearance at a Club Renaissance party in Salvador, Bahia. The visit marked her first public return to the country in over a decade.
“I came because I love you so much. It was very important for me to be here, right here, in Bahia,” the “Drunk in Love” singer said to the audience. “The renaissance is about freedom. It’s about beauty, joy, resilience, everything that you are about. And I’m so honored to be here and so happy to see your beautiful faces. I love you so much. I love y’all. Thank you for all of your support for so many years. There’s nobody like y’all. You are one of one. Number one and the only one, Bahia!”

Beyoncé also attempted to recreate the mute challenge from the Renaissance tour, in which she sings a line from “Energy” (“look around, everybody on mute”) and challenges the audience to stay completely silent for a few seconds. The attempt didn’t go quite as she’d hoped, though, as the fans’ enthusiastic cheers never subsided.
Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé features energetic performances from across the singer’s acclaimed U.S. tour, as well as extensive behind-the-scenes footage breaking down the process of creating the show. The film was released in the U.S. on Dec. 1, and expanded to 15 additional countries, including Brazil, this week.
