Anne Hathaway will star in the movie adaptation of The Idea of You, and the movie could be her best project since Dark Waters. Since the 2019 thriller, Hathaway’s movies failed to impress the critics, the audience, or both, but the surrounding buzz about her upcoming film seems to change that. The Idea of You is a romantic comedy based on Robinne Lee’s novel of the same name, taking Hathaway back to rom-coms. She plays Solène Marchand, a 40-year-old single mom who starts a secret relationship with the 24-year-old lead singer of a fictional band, Hayes Campbell, played by Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White and Royal Blue).

Prime Video has released the first look at Hathaway’s upcoming comedy when revealing its 2024 slate. Although the trailer shows glimpses of her upcoming role, everything about the project suggests it might be her best movie in four years. Hathaway and Galitzine seem to have a lot of chemistry, and taking a break from dramas could be a good idea. Hathaway also has the Neon psychological thriller, Mother’s Instinct, directed by Benoît Delhomme. It is a remake of Olivier Masset-Depasse’s 2018 French-language eponymous film, which also stars Jessica Chastain and is in post-production. With all her upcoming roles, The Idea of You could be the start of a great year for Anne Hathaway.
