USFL and XFL have been on the verge of joining forces for a few months now. The two renowned names in the spring football leagues that run on FOX and ESPN, respectively, could join hands on New Year’s Eve. Dwayne Johnson, part owner of the XFL, took to social media to hint at big announcements coming.
This will be a massive move for the WWE icon and his partner Dany Garcia. Thanks to The Rock’s popularity, the XFL has seen good successes after a rocky start.
Dwayne Johnson hints at something big happening a day before the New Year
Taking to social media, the WWE legend and part-owner of the XFL put out a rather cryptic post. Captioned with “Pumped. Tune in tomorrow 12PM ET FOX NFL SUNDAY See you then, my friends. @NFLonFOX.” The image was of the date 31.12.2023. Fans could expect to see Johnson make an appearance on FOX NFL Sunday show and this post could be hinting at something big set to be announced.
It was back on September 8, 2023, that the merger was officially announced, and this could be the last announcement ahead of the New Year. Experts believe that this could be a great marketing opportunity to drive stocks up heading into 2024.
Bought in August 2020 at the price of $15 million, the XFL was Johnson’s start in the football league. As a footballer himself in his young days, Johnson kept a close eye on the development and vision of the brand. The initial aim was to give players a chance who could not make it into the NFL.
