Rihanna Hits A Major Billboard Milestone As Fans Wait For New Music

Rihanna hasn’t released a new album in nearly eight years, but that doesn’t mean fans aren’t still listening. In fact, her massive following remains so dedicated to the superstar that they’ve kept her most recent full-length alive for a very long time. Now, that set hits a special anniversary—one which she has never experienced before.

On the Billboard 200 this week, Rihanna’s Anti makes it to a major milestone. The set has now lived on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. for 400 weeks, as of this frame.

Currently, Anti is losing ground on the Billboard 200, but not much–and at this point in its life, it’s not the position that matters most. This week, the set falls from No. 123 to No. 127.

Anti is far and away Rihanna’s longest-charting album on the Billboard 200. The singer’s second-longest-running win, Good Girl Gone Bad, isn’t even close to matching the showing that Anti has thus far mustered. Good Girl Gone Bad has racked up 123 frames on the tally–less than half that of Anti.

Rihanna released Anti in January 2016 to much fanfare. The singer’s album was welcomed warmly by fans and especially critics, many of whom called it her best work. The title quickly worked its way to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming one of her two leaders on the all-encompassing tally.

Anti produced four singles, which all enjoyed commercial success on the Hot 100. She introduced the project with “Work,” another collaboration with frequent partner Drake. The tune bolted to No. 1, giving both stars another champion on the list of the most popular songs in America. Follow-up singles “Needed Me” and “Love on the Brain” both broke into the top 10 as well.
