Liverpool have recalled left-back Owen Beck from his loan spell at Dundee FC to solve their left-back injury crisis.
Jurgen Klopp hopes to have the answer to the Reds’ injury woes after losing both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas to long-term injuries in recent months, and without a senior left-back to call upon, Joe Gomez has been used in an unfamiliar position on the left-side of defence in an attempt to burden their absence.
While a solution could’ve arrived in the January transfer window, it seems that Klopp is willing to give 21-year-old Beck a chance to impress at Anfield after registering two goals and two assists in 17 SPFL games – form that saw him called up to the Wales senior squad for the first time in October.
A statement from Dundee confirmed his return to Anfield and thanked Beck for his service during his loan spell, it read: “Owen will be greatly missed by everyone at Dundee FC as he has been outstanding both on and off the field.
“We would like to thank Owen for all he has given to Dundee FC and we wish him all the very best for the future. Owen will always be welcomed back in Dundee and at the Scot Foam Stadium at Dens Park.”

Beck has previously played for Liverpool twice before in the EFL Cup during the 2021/22 season – coming off the bench as a late substitute against Preston North End and Leicester City. He was also an unused substitute on three occasions in the Premier League that season.
The 14-time Wales U21 international spent the first-half of last season on loan at League One side Bolton Wanderers but made just nine appearances before returning to Liverpool to play in the Premier League 2 over the second half of the campaign.

Beck’s return could mean a new arrival at Liverpool is off the cards with Robertson expected to return later this month following a shoulder injury sustained whilst playing for Scotland that required surgery. A return date hasn’t been set for Tsimikas who broke his collarbone against Arsenal at the end of December.
