Pep Guardiola’s side doesn’t look to be done there though, as they are reportedly eyeing two more names from River in a bid to enhance their academy squad.

Agustin Ruberto and Ian Subiabre are two River players who are now understood to be next on the list for Manchester City once a deal is finalised for Echeverri, but who are the Argentine pair?

Born in 2006, Ruberto is just 17 years of age and is a very highly-rated forward who could be in line to join Echeverri at the Etihad Stadium.

His contract with River Plate expires at the end of 2024 so expect the Citizens to sign the forward at a decent price.

Ruberto, alongside Echeverri, shone at the Under-17 World Cup. Ruberto found the net in all three of Argentina’s group matches against Senegal, Japan and Poland as La Albiceleste finished top of Group D, level on six points with Senegal and Japan but with a superior goal difference.

Real Madrid and AC Milan have had previous interest in the Argentine according to Marca but it is City who have stolen a march to sign the 16-year-old.

Ian Subiabre

Another young talent who could well now be on his way to the Etihad is Ian Subiabre who could become the third River Plate player to make the move to the Premier League.

Subiabre does not turn 18 until the beginning of 2025. Chelsea have previously been linked with the trio but it looks like City are going to win the race for the trio.

Born in January of 2007, the 16-year-old is a highly-rated winger who has also impressed multiple club scouts. Since his debut for Argentina’s Under-17s, the winger has scored twice in 16 appearances.

These pair look to be an exciting addition to the superb academy structure at the Etihad Stadium.
