Many theories have been put forward after Dragon Ball Super chapter 70 was released.
Throughout the history of the series, each new installment of Dragon Ball Super has brought with it a new threat, greater difficulty and challenge for Goku and Vegeta to face. Dragon Ball Super chapter 70 brought these two most prominent Saiyans into a predetermined battle with Granola – the sole survivor of Planet Cereal.
As we know, at some point before the events of Dragon Ball Z, Frieza unleashed his army of Saiyans in their Great Ape form against Cereal. While nearly all of the planet’s inhabitants were killed, Granola survived this devastating attack. Since then, Granola has always harbored a great hatred for Frieza and the Saiyans. Although Granola believed that Frieza and the Saiyans were both dead at the beginning of the “Granolah the Survivor” arc, he soon learned that Frieza had returned to life. In response to this Granola gathers her planet’s Dragon Balls and wishes to become the strongest warrior in the universe.
Dragon Ball Super chapter 70 confirms that Cereal’s dragon – named Toronbo – granted Granola’s wish to come true even though the price of losing her lifespan and only having 3 years to live was very expensive. Immediately after receiving the power from her wish, Granola went to meet the Heeters – the gang who knew the whereabouts of Frieza. While previously the Heeters easily defeated Granola, in Dragon Ball Super chapter 70, this sole surviving Cerealian shows off his new power and defeats the members of this group quite easily.
This leads to Elec – the leader of the Heeters – agreeing to provide Frieza’s location to Granola even though it will take them some time to find the information. Granola agrees to the deal but after Granola leaves Elec reveals that he has his own plans. “If Granola eliminates Frieza, he will take his place as commander of Frieza’s army,” Elec explains to the group members.
This group’s goal is to take control of Frieza’s army, so allowing Granola to defeat this tyrant’s army would disrupt their plans. So in Elec’s words, “Granola must die.” To carry out his plan, Elec decided to send Granola’s location to Goku and Vegeta, whom he knew were extremely powerful. Because Granola had demonstrated some strength and determination to destroy those who destroyed his people, Elec knew that the right time to bring Granola to Goku and Vegeta had come.
While Elec’s plan certainly leads to Granola fighting against Goku and Vegeta, there are some questions as to whether these two Saiyans will be strong enough to stop “The Survivor”? The dragon Toronbo makes it clear that although Granola is strong, he is not as strong as the gods. This means that Goku and Vegeta – who have been trained in techniques usually reserved only for gods – can still outperform Granola. However, when asked who is the strongest warrior in the universe, Toronbo did not say it was Goku or Vegeta. Even Toronbo himself is not sure whether Granola is now stronger than Goku and Vegeta.
However, Goku in the past has succeeded in bringing potential enemies to his side. Granola is not a standard Dragon Ball villain, he does not seek to gain power and dominate others. Granola wants revenge on Frieza and that is the same emotion that made Goku first become a Super Saiyan in the battle against this tyrant in Dragon Ball Z. As such, Granola has many things in common with Goku, which could make They soon became allies, even friends. And if that’s what happens, Frieza could face losing his life once again.
What do you think that Goku and Vegeta will be the ones to save Granola and increase this warrior’s power? Please leave your opinion on this issue!
