The lack of discipline and poor mentality of MU’s players is said to be the main cause of their recent difficulties, with Ten Hag himself currently under pressure after MU’s poor start to the season .

But Scott McTominay, who has emerged as a key figure for MU this season, praised boss Ten Hag and his regulations, which include ensuring every player wears appropriate football attire.

In an interview with High Performance Podcast, Scott McTominay said of Erik Ten Hag: “The coach is very strict and he has a lot of high standards that the whole team has to adhere to, which I think is great. I think that’s the right thing to do, especially when you play for a club like Manchester United.

We must all act appropriately and professionally in everything we do. Ten Hag considered his time at Manchester United to be so important, he required everyone to wear the same tracksuits and clothes. All of those things contribute to creating a good team, so no one has a big ego, everyone is involved and on the right track.”

While McTominay is full of praise for Ten Hag’s regulations, not everyone is convinced by the Dutchman’s tough approach . Former English football player and current commentator on TalkSPORT Gabriel Agbonlahor previously criticized Ten Hag’s strict regulations on punctuality and meals for MU players.

Gabriel Agbonlahor feels that Ten Hag has “overdone” with these regulations when sharing: “The regulations that Ten Hag sets out are normal, choosing what you eat is normal for every player. As for drinking, players don’t do it anyway. So when Ten Hag came in and introduced these rules, the players were probably thinking, “We do this anyway, it’s nothing new to us.”

I feel that is overkill, like the ban on players having their own chefs, who will cook dishes that are healthy for the players. Maybe you just need to tell them that these are the foods you should eat.”
