Another Marvel Villain Was Just Teased To Appear In The MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again

Amid casting confirmations for various Marvel characters, another villain has seemingly been confirmed to appear in Daredevil: Born Again.

Another Marvel villain may have been confirmed for Daredevil: Born Again amid numerous casting rumors and confirmations. Since the end of the SAG-AFTRA/WGA strikes at the tail end of 2023, updates and revelations have been frequent about Daredevil: Born Again‘s MCU story. From the rumors that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are returning as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson respectively to the confirmation that Wilson Bethel is returning as Bullseye to Daredevil: Born Again‘s cast, information about the Phase 5 show is coming thick and fast amid the show’s restarted production.

These updates prove that Daredevil: Born Again is essentially Daredevil season 4, a truth many wished for when the former show was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Another thing that supported this was the ending of Echo which set up Wilson Fisk/Kingpin as the core villain facing off against Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Interestingly, several set photos from Daredevil: Born Again‘s production have been shared, seemingly adding another Marvel antagonist to proceedings alongside the villainous Wilson Fisk.

Who Is Marvel Daredevil Villain Muse?

As evident in the set photos above, Daredevil: Born Again features graffiti of Kingpin signed by a character named Muse. This begs the question of who Muse is from Marvel Comics and his connections to Matt Murdock. In the comics, Muse was a deranged artist who hid his face from the public of New York City. Muse’s work drew the attention of Marvel Comics vigilantes like Blindspot and Daredevil due to its gruesome nature. Muse would often create “art” from the blood or bodies of his victims who were usually innocent people from around the Marvel universe.

Over the years, Muse has been targeted by Blindspot and Daredevil who wish to put an end to his horrible crimes. At one point in the comics, Muse even drew the attention of the Inhumans by using Inhuman corpses for one of his demonstrations. Eventually, Muse was defeated by Blindspot after the latter vowed revenge on the former for the villain taking his eyes. After his eyesight was restored by the Hand, Blindspot took down Muse once and for all.

How Muse Could Fit Into Daredevil: Born Again’s Story

As Muse’s Marvel Comics storyline aligns closer to Blindspot’s than Daredevil’s, the question remains over how the villain could fit into the story of Daredevil: Born Again. Interestingly, the answer to this is found in Marvel Comics. One of the comic runs in which Muse appears is actually set shortly after Wilson Fisk is declared mayor of New York City. This storyline has similarly been foreshadowed in the MCU by Echo‘s ending. In the post-credit scene of EchoFisk was shown listening to a news broadcast about the upcoming mayoral election in New York, seemingly intrigued by its possibilities.

This sets up Daredevil: Born Again and how the show will explore Wilson Fisk’s mayoral campaign of which Muse plays a part in the comics. Following Fisk’s election as New York mayor in the comics, Muse escapes prison as an act of defiance against Kingpin’s anti-vigilante policies. Muse continued his grisly artwork across New York, including a mural of the Punisher which was adorned by the corpses of New York police officers. Fisk saw this mural and twisted it for his own gain, blaming the Punisher for it and therefore furthering his anti-vigilante agenda.

Given the setup of Kingpin’s mayoral campaign and Punisher’s return, it could well be the case that the show will adapt the anti-vigilante policies the former pushes for in his stint as New York mayor.

Interestingly, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is already confirmed to have a role in Daredevil: Born Again. Given the setup of Kingpin’s mayoral campaign and Punisher’s return, it could well be the case that the show will adapt the anti-vigilante policies the former pushes for in his stint as New York mayor. Muse could play a role in this, just as he does in Marvel Comics.

Who’s The Main Villain Of Daredevil: Born Again

The addition of Muse to Daredevil: Born Again has led many to wonder who the main villain of the show will be. Aside from Muse, Bullseye is slated to return, a character who holds a grudge against Matt Murdock following the events of Daredevil season 3. Similarly, the Punisher has been a villain of Daredevil in the past and, despite them working together by the end of Daredevil season 2, they are still two characters who do not always see eye to eye.

That said, it is clear that the primary villain of Daredevil: Born Again will be Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. The three seasons of Daredevil on Netflix made it clear how strong the antagonism was between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. This is only set to continue in Daredevil: Born Again with Kingpin’s rise to legal power, something that will only further his feud with vigilantes like Daredevil, Punisher, Bullseye, and new villain Muse so long as the Marvel Comics stories are anything to go by.
