Cardi, famed for hits including WAP and I Like It, is the latest in a string of artists to be struck by objects on stage.
Drake, Harry Styles and Lil Nas X have all been hit by objects in recent months.
In June, singer Bebe Rexha was left with a severely bruised eye after a fan threw a mobile phone at her at a New York gig.
She was taken to hospital where she reportedly needed three stitches following the traumatic incident.
Singer Adele recently warned fans not to join in on the disturbing trend.
Speaking to the audience at one of her Las Vegas shows, she said: “Have you noticed how people are like forgetting f***ing show etiquette in America, they’re just throwing s*** on stage. Have you seen that?”
