Kelce confirmed that his schedule will prevent him from joining Taylor Swift at Sunday night’s Grammys

Super Bowl prep is getting in the way of a red carpet debut.

This weekend, when Taylor Swift steps out on the Grammys red carpet, her beau Travis Kelce won’t be on her arm — but he very much wants to be. Swifties everywhere are still waiting for a red carpet debut for the couple du jour, especially after it didn’t happen at the Golden Globe awards earlier this year, but because the Kansas City Chiefs earned a spot in this year’s Super Bowl, the tight end has other obligations that are keeping him away from Crypto.com Arena this weekend. So, Traylor fans will have to keep waiting for the duo to have their moment in the spotlight without a football backdrop.

Kelce confirmed that his schedule wouldn’t allow for him to join Swift at music’s biggest night. She’s up for six awards, including a few of the night’s biggest, like Song and Record of the Year for “Anti-Hero” and Album of the Year for Midnights.

“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys, and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” Kelce said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, per the Hollywood Reporter. “I got practice Saturday, but Sunday is a travel day, unfortunately I have to get ready for this big ole Super Bowl that we got in a week.”

This year’s Super Bowl is exactly a week after the Grammy Awards. The Grammys are this weekend, Feb. 4, and the Super Bowl is set for Las Vegas on Feb. 11. The Chiefs are set to take on the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium and Usher has the honor of performing at this year’s halftime show.

Fans are still wondering about Swift’s attendance at the big game. She’s scheduled to be in Tokyo leading up to the Super Bowl, but it’s not impossible for her to make it to Vegas on time to cheer on her boyfriend. Thanks to how time works, she has plenty of time to fly out of Tokyo and make it to Sin City before kickoff.
