Manchester United’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen faces a setback as PSG has reportedly earmarked the Napoli forward as a replacement for the departing Kylian Mbappe.Reports indicate that Manchester United might miss out on signing Osimhen due to Mbappe’s decision to depart Paris Saint-Germain, as reported by The Athletic.
Mbappe’s departure, particularly on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer, is seen as a significant loss for PSG.However, PSG seems to have been planning for Mbappe’s exit since January, with Napoli’s star player high on their list of replacements, according to The Athletic.Last month, Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed Osimhen’s impending departure. If PSG secures the Nigerian forward, it could be a major setback for United.
PSG currently boasts a formidable lineup of center-forwards, with Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo-Muani in their ranks.
Despite not matching his goal tally from the previous season, Osimhen, 25, remains among Europe’s top strikers, with eight goals in 18 appearances for the Serie A champions this term.In addition to PSG, Osimhen is expected to attract interest from Chelsea and Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window as they seek their own talisman.
