Tiger Woods will not compete at the Arnold Palmer Invitational this year. His absence marks a significant moment. Woods has dominated this tournament like no other, achieving a record unmatched in golf history. A three-peat in golf is a rare feat, only achieved by a select few, but Woods took it to a whole new level by doing it four times in a row!

The milestone made him one of only five players in the world to do so. This feat showcases his unparalleled skill and consistency on Bay Hill. As the golf world turns its attention to this year’s event, the absence of its most celebrated champion is palpable.

Woods’s first win at Bay Hill came in 1991 at the U.S. Junior Amateur title. As a professional, he sat his foot on the same course in 1997. His debut at the event set the stage for what would become a legendary run of eight victories. Over the years, Woods dominated the Arnold Palmer Invitational, setting records that still stand.

His four consecutive wins from 2000 to 2003, back when it was called the Bay Hill Invitational, are unparalleled in the history of the tournament. His eighth and final victory in 2013 solidified his status as the tournament’s most successful player.

The 5x Masters champion has earned a whopping $7,657,559 from the highly accredited event. Woods’s legacy at the Arnold Palmer Invitational is a testament to Woods’s greatness in the golfing world. But his run at Bay Hill has not been a bed of roses! Missteps and near-misses were part of his journey, providing learning experiences that fueled his competitive fire. He also had some hiccups along the way as well that forced him to stay out the event for quite a few editions.

Why did Tiger Woods missed a few editions in between?

Injuries have also played a role in shaping Woods’ career at Bay Hill. Notably, his absence from the tournament in 2010 was due to health issues. He also did not play in the tournament between 2013 and 2017.

This period marked a challenging phase in Woods’ career, with injuries and personal matters affecting his game. His return to play in 2017 was the last time he played in the tournament he once used to dominate.

Woods’ journey at the Arnold Palmer Invitational mirrors his broader career trajectory: a blend of high achievements and personal challenges. His ability to come back stronger after setbacks has inspired fans and fellow golfers alike. Are you excited to see the GOAT tee up again at Bay Hill?
