Keanu Reeves was observed bidding his girlfriend Alexandra Grant a tender farewell with a kiss on Sunday, as she drove him back to his Berlin hotel to resume filming The Matrix 4.
The 56-year-old Hollywood actor was seen leaving his 47-year-old partner’s car in the heart of the German capital after spending the weekend break at her rented residence.
Clad in a double-layered coat paired with faded jeans and brown boots, Keanu leaned in to plant a kiss on artist and philanthropist Alexandra as she sat behind the wheel.
The couple exchanged brief words before waving goodbye to each other, and Alexandra returned to her rented property, where Keanu typically stays during breaks from filming the highly anticipated movie.
In June, Alexandra was photographed spending time with Keanu and his co-stars Neil Patrick Harris and Carrie-Ann Moss as they filmed scenes, following a pause in production due to the novel coronɑvirus pɑndemic.
The Matrix 4, slated for release in 2021, commenced production in early January with Lana Wachowski returning as co-writer and director. Filming halted in Berlin in March but resumed in June, with the stars returning to the German capital.
Upon the announcement of the new movie, Lana expressed her excitement, stating, “Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now… I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell collaborated with Wachowski on the script for Matrix 4. Keanu reprises his role as Neo, with Carrie-Ann returning as well.
The Matrix 4 also features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, best known as Black Manta in 2018’s Aquaman.
Since going public with their relationship in November, speculation has surrounded the timing of Reeves and Grant’s romance.
Some reports suggest they’ve been together for only a few months, while Jennifer Tilly claimed in June that they’ve been an item for “years.”
Alexandra, originally from Ohio, is an artist and philanthropist, with a background in the arts since graduating from Swarthmore College in 1994 with a BA in history and studio art.
Known for her use of language and interactions with writers as inspiration for her artwork, she has exhibited at prestigious venues worldwide.
In 2008, Alexandra founded the grantLOVE project, which sells original artworks and editions to support artist projects and arts nonprofits.
Reeves and Grant have a history dating back years, starting with their collaboration on the adult picture book, Ode to Happiness, in 2011.
Their second book, Shadows, was released in 2016, featuring Grant’s photographs of Reeves during the filming of John Wick alongside poetry written by Reeves himself.
The couple has been spotted together at art galleries, book signings, and even travelled to Germany to work together. Discussing their collaboration on Shadows, Grant remarked, “We can spend a lot of time debating. Like, A raspberry hue? And should it be darker? We can get obsessive.”
Shadows comprises dark silhouette images of Reeves captured by Grant, accompanied by poetry penned by the actor. Grant emphasized Reeves’s unique performance style, stating, “No one can move the way he can. He’s a really extreme performer. That’s a huge piece of why those images are so interesting.”
In 2017, the duo founded publishing company X Artists’ Books, focusing on unconventional collaborations and books that defy traditional genres.
