“Why so insecure?” Fans say some BLINKs are acting childish after NewJeans’ Danielle was named CELINE Global Ambassador

Recently, NewJeans’ Danielle was announced as the latest global ambassador for the French luxury brand, Celine.

This news was met with criticism from some in BLACKPINK‘s fanbase, known as ‘BLINKS,‘ who compared her to the previous Celine global ambassador, BLACKPINK’s Lisa.BLINKS have been accused of creating and spreading false narratives, including editing an article from a website called ‘SK POP’ to falsely claim that BTS’s Kim Taehyung, also a Celine ambassador, and Danielle are in a secret relationship. They suggested that Taehyung’s support helped Danielle secure her ambassador role, insinuating that BLACKPINK is responsible for paving the way for female K-pop idols to receive similar endorsements.

This isn’t the first time BLINKS have displayed such behavior; NewJeans’ Haerin and Minji have previously been targeted, despite representing brands endorsed by BLACKPINK members Jisoo (Dior) and Jennie (Chanel). The backlash has prompted other K-pop fans to remind BLINKS that Girls’ Generation were pioneers as luxury brand ambassadors in the industry, questioning why there’s a perceived insecurity among BLINKS given BLACKPINK’s significant influence in fashion.Comments have ranged from calling out the immaturity and delusion of the negative reactions to highlighting the toxicity on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram, where the situation has been described as particularly bad. Some have called for an end to the cyberbullying directed at the young idols. In response to the negative comments from these BLINKs, Celine has disabled comments on the announcement of Danielle’s ambassadorship.

“Members of BLACKPINK hold significant sway in the fashion industry. Why are BLINKS so insecure though?””Is it possible to cease the cyberbullying of these young artists?””Labeled as the worst fandom, yet the behavior continues to justify the title.””Claiming BLACKPINK carved the path for fashion in K-pop? Perhaps a reminder of Girls’ Generation’s pioneering role is in order.””The behavior observed is not just immature; it borders on delusion and childishness.””On platforms like Twitter and Instagram, the situation escalates to unbearable levels, making the commentary difficult to even read.”
