Later, the cosplayer shared a new photo of herself dressed as a Homelander, this time with the comment, “You guys are the real heroes,” which is another famous quote from actor Antony Starr’s role. Starr saw this and expressed interest in the topic. The costume depicts every aspect of the character’s look, including his golden eagle shoulder pads, red gloves and collar with gold embellishments, blue suit, and red and white striped cloak.

Author Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson developed Homelander for the WildStorm Productions and subsequently Dynamite Entertainment comic series The Boys. Homelander debuts in full in The Boys, despite being mentioned in the very first issue of the title. Homelander’s murderous ways and brutality are depicted in the comics through a variety of acts (such as killing the US Vice President, destroying a plane, and dropping a family to their death), but the Prime Video series adaptation has given him his fair share of unique, horrific moments.

In the show, Homelander rapes the wife of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Becca (Shantel VanSanten), something he was later proven innocent of in the comics unlike the adaptation. Prior to Season, he uses his heat vision to murder one of the main executives at Vought International (the company responsible for making superheroes and enabling their destructive habits), lets a plane full of civilians crash into the ocean, murders a group of Vought soldiers and worse. The latest season ups the ante by turning him into a “homicidal maniac” according to showrunner Eric Kripke, and Homelander is seen forcing someone to commit suicide in an apparent twist on All-Star Superman, murdering other supes and claiming control over Vought, just to name a few of his actions this season.
