As a privileged banker who is incapable of feeling pain, Jack Quaid leads Novocaine and is forced to act after his bank is plundered.
Jack Quaid, actor of The Boys, and Amber Midthunder, star of Prey, will collaborate on the action film Novocaine, which follows a bank executive who is incapable of feeling pain. Deadline reported that Paramount has now acquired Novocaine, with the studio planning to start shooting in April. Well-known for his part in the satirical superhero series The Boys on Prime Video, Novocaine’s plot is the stuff of action movie fantasies, with a calm bank executive at the center who is incapable of feeling pain and who has to act quickly when his bank is plundered.
The character played by Quaid is named Nathan Caine, and you can read the description for Novocaine below. The project already sounds like a modern action classic, but perhaps we are getting ahead of ourselves.
“Quaid will play a sheltered bank executive named Nathan Caine, who has a rare genetic condition that prevents him from feeling physical pain when he is enduring it. When his bank is robbed and one of his co-workers kidnapped, he has to act and finds his greatest liability becomes his greatest strength.”
Novocaine is all set to be directed by Robert Olsen and Dan Berk, who will work from a script written by Lars Jacobson.
Both Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder are fast rising stars, and Novocaine, with its wonderfully simple, high-concept premise, could be the project that hurls them both into superstardom.
Jack Quaid Will Next Return as Hughie in the Boys Season 4
While we await the arrival of Novocaine, Jack Quaid will first return as Hugh “Hughie” Campbell Jr. in the upcoming fourth season of The Boys. Joined by a large ensemble cast that includes Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, Cameron Crovetti, Valorie Curry, and Susan Heyward, The Boys season four finds the gang once again trying to bring down Homelander, who is onsolidating his power.
With Victoria Neuman growing increasingly closer to the Oval Office, there is more at stake than ever before, and The Boys and Butcher must find a way to collaborate and save the world before it’s too late.
As for Amber Midthunder, she has received critical acclaim for her performance in the Predator prequel, Prey. Released in 2022, Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and follows a young Comanche woman, Naru, who finds herself having to protect her people from the vicious, humanoid alien hunter known as the Predator.
Since then, Midthunder has starred alongside Nicolas Cage in the acclaimed comedy Dream Scenario and will next star as Princess Yue in the Netflix live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
