Lewis Hamilton has detailed his plans for his professional ventures once his career in motor racing comes to an end.

The 39-year-old shocked the sporting world before the start of the season by announcing that he would move to Ferrari in 2025 after eleven glittering years with Mercedes.

As the second oldest driver on the grid in the 2024 season, questions have been asked regarding exactly how much longer the seven-time World Champion has in the sport.

Speaking on life after racing, Hamilton admitted that the main difficulty he is facing is narrowing down exactly what to channel his energy into once he hangs up his racing boots.

‘The difficult thing is I want to do everything,’ he said in an interview with GQ.

Hamilton is the second oldest active driver in Formula One having debuted back in 2007

‘I’m very ambitious. But I understand that you can’t do—actually, I take that back because I don’t believe in the word can’t.

‘To be a master at something, there’s the 10,000 hours it takes. Obviously, I’ve done that in racing. There’s not enough time to master all of these different things.’

Asked what he plans to replace racing with in his life Hamilton answered: ‘Well, I think it’s going to be film and fashion.’

Hamilton is well-known for his ventures into the world of fashion having previously collaborated with renowned American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger for their TommyXLewis clothing line.

Regarding his final year with Mercedes the Briton admitted that while some of the team had taken the news of his upcoming departure better than others, he remains determined to leave on a positive note.

‘My focus is: How do I deliver the best year that this team has ever had, after all the great years we’ve had?’ He continued.

With his exit from Mercedes imminent, Hamilton admitted some people had taken the news better than others

‘It’s how you engage with the people around you. Who have taken the news, some of them really well, some of them less so. How do you take them on this journey and leave on a high together?’

‘I’m training harder than I’ve ever trained. I feel the most physically prepared I’ve ever been. So I’m really excited about the present, knowing that nothing is promised beyond that.

‘But then it’s also conceptualizing, I have all these ideas of things I want to do beyond, in the next phase.’
