Timothée Chalamet has become the first man to appear solo on the cover of British Vogue in the magazine’s 106-year history.
British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful said he had been waiting for “the moment that felt right” to have a man on the cover and added that he wanted it to feel “easy”.
Enninful describes the 26-year-old actor as “a modern man, an actor and a human being” who is exceptional and has what it takes to appear on the cover of Vogue alone.
“When we started talking about the possibilities of this cover a few months ago, it immediately became clear that Timothée is just Timothée,” said the editor-in-chief of British Vogue. Marketed by Hollywood and the fashion machines to appeal to teenagers or ladies or men, he is simply himself. He is a man for everyone.”

“And here he is, a young actor at the peak of his budding career – someone who is reminiscent of the Deans and DiCaprios of decades past, but with a connection to a new generation, stripped of the old-fashioned concept of masculinity as a matter of science” – Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue added.
The photos for the two covers of British Vogue were shot by Steven Meisel, in a photo shoot that Chalamet described as his favorite to date.
