Jensen Ackles says he’s up for it if he’s available!
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jensen Ackles have officially expressed a desire to work together in The Walking Dead Universe, most likely in Morgan’s spinoff series.
Morgan, who played John Winchester alongside Ackles in Supernatural, joined The Walking Dead‘s main series as then-villain Negan during its 6th season back in 2016.
Since then, his character has slowly developed more into an anti-hero of sorts and now co-leads a spinoff series titled Dead City alongside Lauren Cohan‘s Maggie Greene.
Cohan also starred alongside Ackles in Supernatural as Bela Talbot.
CoveredGeekly can confirm that both Morgan and Ackles spoke about their Walking Dead hopes when attending a convention panel in Burbank earlier this month, together on stage.
When asked by a fan in the audience if there would ever be a chance for Ackles to join the zombie franchise, Morgan optimistically responded with “Yeah!”
He then revealed that they have already had talks about it: “Yeah, funny enough we had a conversation a couple of weeks ago about it… um… I think so.”
He added: “I mean, I’d love to have him [on Dead City], [Ackles] would love to come and do it – sometimes our schedules won’t work out quite the way we want them to”.
Jensen Ackles then weighed in on the matter: “This is a real sweet spot, I think in both our careers that we can- have dear friends who are thriving in you know a multitude of shows and movies and stuff.”
He added: “In this industry, people like to work with people they trust and so- now I have, we have friends who are doing really well and say ‘Hey, do you want to come over and do a spot on the show or you want to come do this movie together?’”
He continued: “So, there are those conversations quite a bit but like Jeff said, a lot of it comes down to availability and whether or not they can work that out but yeah I think any opportunity [we] get to go play on set together, that’s a good jump.”
Morgan then optimistically added: “We’d love it to happen, I’ll tell you that. Make it so!”
He added: “It’s not a big ask, I’d love to make it happen.”
Although the two have yet to star together in The Walking Dead, it should be noted that they are both now officially part of Supernatural showrunner Eric Kripke’s The Boys series on Prime Video.
Additionally, Ackles and his previous co-star Jared Padalecki have been more than vocal this past year about having a strong desire to revive the now-ended and aforementioned Supernatural series.
However, a revival has yet to be announced.
