With the release of her much awaited 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, on Friday, April 19 (previewed in February), Taylor Swift is set to smash even more records.
If the album debuts at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, she would likely break a number of other records upon its release in different countries, such as tying Jay-Z for the most #1 albums for a solo artist with 14.
She will tie Madonna as the female artist with the most number one albums in the UK if The Tortured Poets Department becomes the number one album in the country.
Not only that, but she might break the tie with Bruce Springsteen and become the first artist in history to have the most #1 albums on the Irish chart.
The singer may surpass her own records for the most streamed album in a day and the most streamed album in a week on Spotify, said VegasInsider.com.
As of right now, Midnights, her last album, is the most listened album on Spotify in both a day (184.695 million) and a week (785.253 million).
According to CNN, Tom Poleman, the president and chief programming officer of iHeartRadio, The Tortured Poets Department ‘is perhaps the most anticipated album’ he’s ‘ever’ seen in his career.
In a recent interview with CNN, he raved, “It’s not just a music event, it’s a pop culture event that I think everybody in America will be talking about and celebrating together.”
Continued Poleman: “It’s like in movies; it’s like James Cameron, who cares about credibility, quality, and commercial success.”
The 34-year-old pop artist broke Spotify’s record for the most pre-saved countdown page album in the streaming service’s history as her hordes of admirers eagerly await the release of the record.
Her most recent accomplishment coincides with rumors that the upcoming album is filled with allusions to her ex-boyfriend Matty Healy, with whom she briefly dated for two months in 2023 after splitting from Joe Alwyn after six years of relationship.
The exact amount of hits that Taylor stated will be on her new record were contained in a zip file that went viral online on Wednesday. Her fans went crazy, thinking it was a leak of her most recent music.
Some listeners have asserted that these teasers are fraudulent and the product of artificial intelligence (AI), while others have been persuaded that the tracks provide an early listener pass to the whole album.
The singer’s fan base was shocked to learn of the alleged leak, and some fans hurried to listen to the songs.
Swifties now flock to the album’s countdown page every week to get updates on fresh lyrics and video messages from the artist, which was released on March 28.
Swiftly following suit, several defended the pop sensation, asking others to’report’ any posts that circulated the clips and stating that Taylor’s most ardent admirers will hold off until the actual album is out.
“Tip: For the next 24 hours, turn off the entire volume on your device and report every post that mentions album leaks on Twitter!” We can succeed! Someone penned something.
Another person added, calling it “pathetic” that there wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift album release without “Swifties” distributing false a** leaks because they couldn’t wait to listen to the project.
‘Please do not distribute the leak of Taylor Swift’s upcoming album,’ a third person commented. Keep in mind, this is Taylor’s work; treat it with the same care you would your favorite musician. Don’t penalize the artist for the actions of their fans.

The largest record store in Indianapolis, Indy CD & Vinyl, verified they had The Tortured Poets Department on hand, but they refrained from disclosing any plot details.
“The business teased that there are some surprises that we can’t reveal to you because if we do, she’ll have us killed with hammers minutes after this post,” but “rest assured, the surprises are freaking cool.”
