The return of screenwriter Akiva Goldsman to craft the script is seen as a promising development. Initially, a sequel to I Am Legend was planned as a prequel featuring Smith, generating anticipation for several years post the original movie’s success.
Despite numerous exciting updates, I Am Legend 2 remains firmly entrenched in the pre-production stage. With a development period spanning fifteen years, the film has yet to solidify its position within Warner Bros.’ official slate. Often characterized as being stuck in “production hell,” the sequel has encountered various obstacles hindering its progress.
