According to an old report in KoiMoi, it was stated that Farhan Akhtar waited for Shah Rukh Khan to agree to do the film, Don 3, for ten long years. A source close to the director revealed that the decision to find another actor as SRK’s replacement was taken after SRK denied the role. Adding that Farhan could not even think of another actor for Don than SRK, the source had said:

“Aapko lagta hai ke Farhan kissi doosre actor ke baare mein soch bhi sakta hai? But Shah Rukh wouldn’t budge over his decision not to do another film in the Don Franchise. He felt he had given whatever he had to give to Don in his two Don films.”
