Scarlett Johansson is reportedly gearing up for a dinosaur adventure.
The Avengers actress, 39, is in talks to be the star of the next Jurassic World movie, according to reports from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter.
A spokesperson for Universal Pictures declined to comment. A rep for Johansson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Gareth Edwards is directing the movie, which is slated for a July 2, 2025, release date. He previously made 2014’s Godzilla, 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and, most recently, last year’s The Creator.Bryce Dallas Howard in “Jurassic World Dominion”
The new Jurassic movie will be written by David Koepp, who wrote the screenplay for the original 1993 Steven Spielberg film, based on Michael Crichton’s novel, and the 1997 sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard starred in the recent trilogy of blockbuster Jurassic World movies that began in 2015, though this new installment is said to have an all-new storyline for the franchise. Original stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum reprised their roles in 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, which concluded that trilogy.

Johansson, who has two Oscar nominations, told Variety last year about her legacy as Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow, in the Marvel Studios franchise and her “bittersweet” goodbye to the role.
“Yeah, I am sad, of course. I absolutely loved every filming experience I had, working 10 years with Marvel and with that amazing cast, and I love the character Natasha,” she said at the time. “I have a lot of empathy for her, and it was amazing to build that character over such a long period of time.”
