‘He can come see me’ – Jake Paul reacts to Canelo Alvarez’s win over Jaime Munguia by drawing up fight plan

Jake Paul has again called out Canelo Alvarez after his win over Jaime Munguia.

Alvarez successfully defended his undisputed 168lbs world titles with a dominant points win over Munguia, who he dropped to the canvas in the fourth period.

YouTube star Paul, who has become a high-profile name in the sport, has regularly called for a showdown with Alvarez throughout his short ten-fight career.

And in a video shortly after Alvarez’s win, Paul suggested he will fight the champion again.

He said: “Yeah I mean he’s got to come and talk with us.

“I’m going to get the cruiserweight belt, and Canelo can come and see me.”

Paul is far away from becoming a world champion, and is prioritising entertainment-style fights with his next outing against 58-year-old Mike Tyson.

The ‘Problem Child’ has regularly attempted to lure Alvarez into a fight, and insisted it will happen in the future at the back end of his boxing career.

It is highly unlikely Alvarez would be able to fight at cruiserweight, despite previous reports he would step up to face Ilunga Makabu lasr year.

He is also at a much higher level than Paul, and has reigned as undisputed 168lbs champion since 2021.

Despite the unlikely nature of a contest, the pound-for-pound superstar previously refused to rule out a showdown with the influencer.

He said: “We’ll see in the future. He needs to do a lot of things.

I’m not going to say I like [Paul’s personality] or I don’t like. “Everybody knows his personality so it’s good.”

There is also a significant weight gap, but Paul previously suggested he would be open to cutting down to around 175lbs.

He said: “I would probably have to cut to 170 if we were doing it for an actual belt

“It would be a big, big cut but those are the sacrifices you’d have to make to be a champion.

“I think he would underestimate me and let me weigh whatever I want because he thinks he’ll take me out.
