Alan Jackson’s Daughter, Mattie, Is Expecting Her First Child With Husband Connor Smith

Alan Jackson’s eldest daughter, Mattie, is soaking in all the “surreal” feelings following her baby shower.

The upcoming arrival of Mattie’s first child is a moment she has prayed about for years. She married her first husband, Ben Selecman, on October 7, 2017, and dreamed of starting a family with him one day.

But sadly, Ben died just three weeks before their first wedding anniversary. Mattie was left to process her grief as a young widow.

Mattie used her faith to cope with her grief and channeled her feelings into the book Lemons On Friday. She shared words of comfort for those who unfortunately find themselves in the depths of grief like she did.

Mattie Found Love After Loss With Her Now-Husband, Connor Smith

In Lemons on Friday, Mattie also wrote about how she was open to falling in love again. But she didn’t know when or if that would happen.

Then in April 2022, Mattie introduced the world to her new boyfriend, Connor. She said:

“I have believed, prayed, and claimed for 3 and a half years now that God would give me the chance to love someone with my whole heart again.”

She revealed Connor was that person. They announced their engagement in September 2022 after celebrating Connor’s 30th birthday.

Mattie and Connor married during a stunning wedding in Palm Beach, Florida on May 12, 2023.

Then, in February 2024, Mattie and Connor shared more happy news. They’re expecting their first child! The couple is due to welcome a baby boy in June.

“I feel like I said so many times last year that 2023 topped the charts with more joy and celebration and and redemption than any yet. Well, I have a feeling 2024 may give it a run for it’s money…” Mattie wrote in their pregnancy announcement.

Mattie and Connor’s son will be Alan Jackson and his wife Denise’s second grandchild. Their second daughter, Ali, welcomed a baby boy named Jackson with her husband, Sam Bradshaw, in December 2022.

With Baby Smith’s due date approaching in less than eight weeks, Mattie’s friends and family recently gathered to celebrate at her baby shower. Mattie posted a few photos from the blissful gathering decorated with balloons in various shades of blue.

The TV behind the balloon arch had a nautical-themed sign that read “Baby On Board.” Mattie and many of the attendees wore floral outfits in shades of blue.

“Even as we get clothes and car seats and everything we can ready for little man, it still feels surreal sometimes,” Mattie said. “So many years of dreams and tears and prayers finally becoming a reality – I’m honestly blown away by it all the time. Connor is so used to the happy cries now and has been such a champ already setting up play seats and walkers we won’t need for months from now just because we want to look at them.”
