You can take a man out of the fight but you cannot take the fight out of the man. This quote perfectly summarizes what Jason Kelce is going through. The “former” center for the Philadelphia Eagles has been happily retired for nearly 2 months but he finds himself in conflict as he is unable to stay away from the game.
Jake Elliot, the kicker of the Philadelphia Eagles sent fans into a frenzy after he stated via NFL Total Access that Jason Kelce has continued to show up every day to the team’s facility. While speaking on the status of the team’s locker room following the departure of Kelce, Elliott emphasized on the impact he had upon the organization. He credited him with having laid a solid foundation.
It’s always going to be hard to replace guys like Kelce and Fletch (Fletcher Cox) so we’re definitely sad to see them go but…you see little hints of them in the locker room now, they’ve made a huge impact that’s going to last a long time and those guys aren’t going to be far. I know Kelce has been in the building almost everyday already so they’re always going to be a big part of the organization. Jake Elliott said
Maybe the possibility of a Jason Kelce comeback is not that far-fetched after all.
Jason Kelce played 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles
The center has been enticed by the team’s offseason, it is hard to not be. The Eagles added Saquon Barkley, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Bryce Huff to their roster in the offseason strengthening an already talented squad. On an earlier episode of New Heights with guest Saquon Barkley, Jason Kelce did seem to be considering a return.
However, despite the optimism, it is unlikely that fans will ever see him step onto the field again. After retirement, Kelce made it clear that he would continue to be there for the city of Philadelphia. He will continue to support his former team in an advisory role and has taken on the responsibility of grooming the younger and talented core in the locker room.
His life after retirement has been enjoyable. The next step for Jason Kelce appears to lie in broadcasting. He has already committed to ESPN to join the network’s Monday Night Countdown. The recent success of his weekly podcast New Heights with brother Travis Kelce has brought his entertaining side out to the public and made him an instant hit amongst fans. It would be great to see Jason Kelce announce a return to the NFL but at the moment, it seems highly unlikely that it will happen.
