Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey announced on Thursday that they’re expecting their first child together.
The couple revealed their baby joy during a surprise vow renewal in Hawaii, with the 27-year-old model debuting her bump in a custom Saint Laurent lace wedding dress by Anthony Vaccarello, paired with a flowing veil.
However, the announcement video didn’t come as a huge shock to fans as the couple have always made it clear they wanted to be parents.
Over the years, Justin and Hailey, who started their relationship in 2018, have dropped a number of subtle hints about when they would start a family together.
Back in November 2021, on an episode of the ‘In Good Faith with Chelsea and Judah Smith’ podcast, the model revealed that she and her popstar beau had started talking about having children early on in their relationship.

Loved up: Over the years, Justin and Hailey, who started their official relationship in 2018,have dropped a number of subtle hints and sweet details about when they will start a family together
Hailey admitted: ‘We were having pillow talk conversations, with him telling me his biggest goal in life is to have a healthy family.
‘In my head, I’m just like, ‘I just don’t think that that is BS because he doesn’t have to say that.
‘We always had so many conversations about our goals, where we wanted to end up at a certain age. We always wanted to be married young and have a young family and have kids young.’
Justin and Hailey met for the first time aged just 14 and 12. While they frequented similar social circles after their first meeting in 2009, it was not until 2015 that it was clear they were more than friends.
They acknowledged they were seeing each other, without being in an exclusive relationship.
After this, the pair went their separate ways and dated other people but reignited their romance in 2018, when they began their official relationship – just over a month later, the couple were engaged.
The lovebirds got their marriage license from a New York City courthouse in September 2018 and tied the knot.
They celebrated for a second time in an extravagant wedding in South Carolina on September 30, 2019 at the Montage Palmetto Bluff resort in front of 154 guests that included Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

No surprise: The pregnancy announcement video didn’t come as a huge shock to fans as the couple have always made it clear they wanted to be parents
And it didn’t take long for the lovebirds to start being vocal about wanting a family.
Hailey was keen to give her outlook on how she and Justin might raise their future children.
In August 2020, she told Vogue India: ‘They will be raised knowing how to treat people, why we don’t say certain things, and why we respect and acknowledge and give credit where credit is due.’
Meanwhile, in a very candid interview with The Times in 2023, Hailey again discussed the topic of baby Biebers being on the cards.
While she made it clear it’s something they have always wanted, the model admitted that the prospect of raising a child in the public eye scares her.
She exclaimed: ‘I literally cry about this all the time! I want kids so bad but I get scared.
‘It’s enough that people say things about my husband or my friends. I can’t imagine having to confront people saying things about a child. We can only do the best we can to raise them. As long as they feel loved and safe.’
The socialite even admitted to Hapers Bazaar back in 2018 that when it comes to tattoos, she’s ‘keeping space’ for her future children’s names to be permanently inked onto her body.
As well as being explicit about wanting children, the A-list pairing have also dropped some more subtle hints over the years and often share snaps of them spending time with babies that belong to their friends and family.

In October last year, the model flashed a smile while her Canadian pop star spouse, planted a kiss on the child’s forehead – their bestie Kelia Moniz Termini’s baby girl, Lava Louise.
Justin had also gushed over his newborn baby niece Poppy on his own Instagram page two days earlier.
He shared several pics in a post of himself and his spouse of five years affectionately playing with Poppy.
He wrote: ‘Meet my niece Poppy Ford Kennedy,’ Justin added ‘Anyone who knows @thejasonkennedy and @thelaurenkennedy know their journey and challenges with having kids. They now have two beautiful babies that I’m absolutely obsessed with.’
When it comes to just how many kids the celeb couple are going to have, Justin revealed he is leaving that decision in the hands of Hailey.
‘I think it’s up to Hailey because it’s her body,’ Justin, 26, replied when asked by Ellen on her Burning Questions segment how many children he wanted.
More recently, although she successfully managed to hide any sign of her baby bump in public, fans began to pick up on some differences in Hailey’s behaviour online and how she’s been dressing months prior to the couple’s Instagram reveal.
Pregnancy rumors surrounding the couple hit an all-time high on social media after they skipped the Met Gala on Monday, which is an invite-only event.

Covered up: Despite the high temperatures in Indio, California, Hailey remained bundled up all weekend in various baggy looks (like the jacket seen above)
Stephen Baldwin (pictured with daughter Hailey in 2016) publicly asked for prayers for his daughter and son-in-law Justin Bieber in an Instagram Story, which caused concern from fans
Since making her debut in 2015, the Rhode founder has attended the event a total of seven times.
As the event went on, numerous X users began posting about ‘waiting to see if Hailey Bieber will show up at Met pregnant.’
Others insisted that ‘Hailey Bieber was supposed to announce her pregnancy’ at the gala.
Another clue that tipped fans off was that she chose to don an oversized jacket in the sweltering desert heat at Coachella earlier this year.

Perhaps one of the biggest signs that Hailey and Justin were preparing to enter a new chapter in their lives was her dad publicly asking fans to pray for them.
In late February, the 57-year-old actor reposted a video of Justin singing, which was shared by All Things Possible Ministries founder Victor Marx and captioned: ‘Christians please when you think of Justin & Hailey, take a moment to offer a little prayer for them to have wisdom, protection, and draw close to the Lord.’
The evangelist, 58, had written that his wife Eileen Marx and Hailey’s mother Kennya Deodato Baldwin ‘pray often together’ for the married couple of over five years.
‘There are special challenges that folks in high visibility positions face and also the enemy doesn’t want them to draw closer to Jesus,’ Victor wrote.
‘So often regardless of the material things or the accolades they often face spiritual warfare that intense and seeks to ship-wreck their faith, marriage, and life in general. So thank you.’
