And don’t forget, she ain’t your mama.
After 15 years on air, American Idol bid farewell to fans on its final episode Thursday evening. And of course, it did so with a bang, featuring performances by the show’s past contestants and winners including Justin Guarini, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson and even William Hung. But of all the singers to hit the stage, it was arguably Jennifer Lopez who stole the show.
The American Idol judge debuted her new single, “Ain’t Your Mama,” in a French maid uniform before transitioning into her hit single, “Let’s Get Loud,” and making a quick costume change into a custom lavender and mint creation by Nicolas Jebran.
The Lebanese designer, who also created one of her looks for her “All I Have” Las Vegas Residency, collaborated with J.Lo and her stylists, Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, to create the show-stopping ensemble, which featured separate layers for three distinct, dynamic costume moments.
According to Jebran, “The inspiration behind the look was luxury with bit of fun — a bodysuit with three different layers that could be revealed throughout the performance.”
In addition to meeting Lopez’s request of “lots of sparkles,” Jebran wanted to create “something that translated well on camera.” From what we could tell, it sure did.
