One Piece: Oda Reveals How The World Sank
One Piece finally makes its return with chapter 1115 and Oda has dropped some major truths about the world, specifically the Void Century in this chapter. Fans were fully expecting Oda to tackle these aspects of the story in One Piece chapter 1115, and that is exactly what has happened.
Now, fans have a proper idea of how the battle in the past concluded, and how the world of One Piece began to sink as well. That, and much more was revealed in this week’s exciting chapter and it is safe to say that this remains to be one of the most crucial bits of information that fans have found out in the entire story right from its beginning to this point.
Joy Boy And His Battle Against The 20 Kings
Joyboy And His Allies Fought Against Strong Enemies In The Past
One Piece chapter 1115 gave fans quite a lot of information about Joy Boy. Vegapunk talked in great detail about this Warrior of Liberation who fought in the past against the World Government. Of course, fans know that the World Government attempted to destroy the Ancient Kingdom and that eventually, they succeeded. At the end of the Void Century, the 20 Kings created the World Government and that is precisely how they took over the world. In fact, it was also shown to the fans in a very obscure panel that Joy Boy had taken up arms against the rulers of certain kingdoms of One Piece World. Eventually, Vegapunk makes it clear that Joy Boy ended up losing this battle and when he died, the Void Century finally ended.
I only have access to aa handful of Poneglyphs, but their combined narrative clearly chronicles an unbelievable history about a great war in the distant past!
This battle was incredibly intense and, given that it continued for a hundred years, there’s absolutely no denying the fact that it was a magnificent clash of great proportions. Entire continents were embroiled in this battle and it shook the foundations of the very world.
In this battle, the Ancient Weapons were used as well, and eventually, Joy Boy fell to the power of the 20 Kings. It is unknown if the Ancient Weapons were utilized by those of the 20 Kings. However, what fans do know is that these weapons were created by the people of the Ancient Kingdom, which means that there could have been a betrayal of sorts at play here.
The Usage Of The Ancient Weapons
The Ancient Weapons Caused Utter Destruction In The Void Century
When the war against Joy Boy was fought, the Ancient Weapons were most definitely used. This has been confirmed by Oda in One Piece chapter 1115. This is because, in this 100-year time frame, the world entirely changed and that showcases how great this war was. Due to the usage of many powerful weapons, likely the Ancient Weapon Pluton, the Ancient Weapon Uranus, and even Poseidon, the world was on the brink of destruction. In One Piece chapter 1115, it was confirmed that due to the war against Joy Boy that was fought in the Void Century, the world essentially sank. According to Vegapunk, the sea level of the One Piece World Rose by 200 meters during this time period. Essentially, this suggests that the Ancient Weapons were extensively used. If a single shot of an Ancient Weapon causes the same level to rise by 1 meter, then, common logic would dictate that ancient weapons were used 200 times during this 100-year war.
It could also be that some Ancient Weapons caused the water levels to rise more than others. For instance, Poseidon controls the seas itself and, for her, sinking islands should not be hard at all. In fact, Poseidon should be able to raise the water level by much more, and, thus, this war could easily have seen utter destruction being caused by this Ancient Weapon in the war against the 20 Kings.
The wake of that ancient conflict scarred the world, and those scars never truly healed!
Still, fans know for a fact that Pluton and Uranus were most definitely utilized quite a lot and that eventually, the sea levels of the One Piece World rose by 200 m.
This also ties in very well to the current shape of the world. As confirmed by Dr Vegapunk in One Piece chapter 1115, the world of One Piece was not a bunch of islands at first. In fact, there existed a giant continent long ago and this continent was absolutely massive in terms of size. As the war against the 20 Kings continued, this island suffered as well. Due to the use of the Ancient Weapons in this massive war against the 20 Kings, the water levels of the world started to rise dramatically. As was mentioned earlier, there was a 200-meter rise in water level following this war, and that caused this continent to be completely inundated.
There are only bits of this continent that are left above the sea level and these became islands that fans know to exist today. Essentially, the bigger portion of the One Piece world is under the ocean and fans will most definitely see it later down the line.
The Previous Sinking Of The World
The One Piece World Sank Completely After The Void Century
As confirmed in One Piece chapter 1115, following the Void Century, the world of One Piece essentially sank. The giant continent that once existed is now under the ocean. This also links the many islands of the One Piece world together. As fans know, many people in the One Piece community once theorized that there are places in the One Piece world that are connected to each other but exist in different parts of the world. Essentially, the many islands of the One Piece world are all the same, and only after the water level rose by 200 meters did they become different islands, with different cultures and identities.
This also opens up an exciting room for further development in the future of the series. Perhaps, at some point, the world of One Piece will be de-flooded, and when that happens, the old continent that once existed could come back to life. This is a major possibility that could now end up coming true, and fans are incredibly excited to see it happen.
More importantly, this time is in line with the upcoming plans of the World Government. Essentially, the rise of the water level by 200 meters can be referred to as the Great Cleansing as well. The World Government, as fans know, intend to carry out another Great Cleansing to sink the entire world. For that, they need the power of the Mother Flame, and as a result, the war on Egghead becomes paramount. If the World Government gets their hands on the Mother Flame, then the world of One Piece is doomed and more islands are going to be sunk under the ocean. This is where the Straw Hat Pirates will have to take up arms against the Government and fight and it is going to be extremely intriguing to see how the Gorosei, as well as Imu, take things from here.
