Mike Trout is already a rich man, having agreed to a one-year, $1 million deal on Wednesday, which set a new salary record for a pre-arbitration eligible player. But it may just be a matter of days before he upgrades to filthy rich man.

According to multiple outlets, including the initial report from Yahoo’s Jeff Passan, the Los Angeles Angels are contemplating an an extension for Trout with the rumored numbers ranging anywhere from $140 to $150 million over five or six years.

That’s a lot of dough. It’s also a lot for the 22-year-old Trout to contemplate as he prepares for his third season. But his mind was far away from the negotiating table when he stepped in with the bases loaded during the Angels Cactus League opener on Friday. Just ask Chicago Cubs hurler James McDonald, because it was his 2-0 fastball that Trout turned on and launched over the hill at Tempe Diablo Stadium for a mammoth grand slam. In fact, if the bushes lining the hill were in play, it would have been a 460-foot ground rule double.
