Damsel revolves around Elodie (Millie Bobby Brown), a princess who lives in a barren kingdom, harsh climate. Worried about her family and subjects not being able to survive winter and hunger, Elodie is unexpectedly betrothed to the handsome, wealthy Prince Henry (Nick Robinson) of another kingdom.
The wedding took place like a fairytale. Elodie being carried by the prince is extremely romantic but is toโฆ thrown straight into the deep pit. It wasnโt until this moment that she was shocked to discover she was the victim of a sacrifice.
The royal family here each year selects young women, paying the debt of a giant and ferocious dragon on their behalf.
It can be seen that Damsel completely goes against the usual fairy tale motif. The prince is now no hope, a light for the heroineโs life. On the contrary, he pushed her into the darkness with fake juicy words. Meanwhile, the girl didnโt cry waiting for a miracle. She mobilized herself, fighting to protect herself.
