Ronda Rousey rubbed many people the wrong way in the world of MMA, but Matt Brown believes there’s an easy fix to get her back to where she needs to be.
Former UFC fighter Matt Brown recently sat down with Damon Martin of MMA Fighting. When asked about Ronda Rousey, Brown said he believes the world of MMA is ready to embrace Rousey again if she comes back with some humility.
“Like I got losses, I got way more losses than. Ronda,” Matt Brown said. “I fought a lot more times than Ronda, but you don’t want to go around living that way. Blaming other people for the way your life is or the way that you’re portrayed. And I don’t doubt for a second that she could reconcile everything.
“She could walk in and just show a little bit of humility, like you said, just show a little bit of humility, and everybody would be bowing down to her again. If she would just hire a halfway decent PR person and tell you what to say, just say it, and the world is yours again, you’re back at the top of the celebrity list. No one wants to hear what she’s saying.
“She doesn’t realize that I think most of the MMA world wants to love her. She’s a perfect, what would you call it? Like a role model — not a role model, but a statue-type perfect figure for us all to love and attach to. She has all of the right qualities, but she pushes us away. I say us like I’m not a fighter anymore, right? I’m a fan, but even me, though she pushed me away. She pushes that away from her. I think every fan wants to love her.”
