So this happened.

And we had to have an actual meeting over it. A for-real, sit-down, what’s-the-plan-here, honest-to-God editorial meeting to discuss our approach.
Because look: there’s no way we can sit here, being all T Lo and stuff, and pretend that this is…well, anything but tacky. On the other hand, we think getting huffy over a design like this, from designer Pierre-Louis Auvray, who’s a recent Central Saint Martin’s womenswear graduate, misses the point of it. Of course it’s tacky. It was designed to be. It’s the classic fashion thing of taking “low” forms of street-level artwork (like graffiti, underground comics, or in this case, erotic art) and marrying them to high-fashion forms and techniques. There is, to be sure, no part of us that loves this design, but there’s also no part of us that’s mad at it. We’re less interested in the boobiness of it all (We can only be as God made us, darlings) and more focused on the odd – but interesting – mix of knitwear with sheer.
