It has been one month since Donald Trump was inaugurated as the US president on the 20th. In a poll conducted by CNN and commissioned by the research firm SSRS, Trump’s approval rating is at 47%, which is lower than when he took office, but it still remains higher than during his first term.
The percentage of people who are optimistic about Trump’s return to the presidency has been declining since December last year, and the positive view of Trump shown in this survey may not last long. The public’s assessment of Trump’s efforts so far is divided.
His approval rating is 47%, lower than the approval ratings of the most recent presidents other than Trump at the time of their inauguration.
Fifty-two percent of the public disapproved. It seems that the majority of the public thinks that Trump has not adequately addressed the rising prices of daily necessities and food.
In addition, 52% of people believe that Trump is abusing his presidential power, and the same number of people are wary of Trump’s efforts to shut down federal government agencies and his use of businessman Elon Musk in his government renewal efforts.
Thirty-nine percent of people said Trump has used his powers appropriately, while 8 percent said he has not abused them much. Seventy-five percent of people said Trump’s efforts so far have been as expected, while 25 percent said they were unexpected.
These figures are roughly the same as at the start of his first term. Additionally, 41 percent said they saw Trump as doing his job as expected, and that this was a positive thing. Only 21 percent of people who said they had been caught off guard by Trump’s efforts said they had been negatively surprised.
