A convicted murderer who decapitated her lover during 𝑠e𝑥 had an outburst during a brief court appearance in Wisconsin on Friday, culminating in her attacking her own lawyer.

Taylor Schabusiness is facing a new charge of battery by prisoner after she allegedly attacked a nurse at the Taycheedah Correctional Facility, where she is serving a life sentence after being convicted of murdering 25-year-old Shad Thyrion.

Schabusiness, 27, arrived at court Friday wearing her hair in half-up pigtails and had only been seated for a few minutes when she suddenly erupted, yelled out an indecipherable word and charged at her attorney.

In footage aired on Court TV, Schabusiness is tackled and restrained by five court officers.

The judge then called for a recess, and when court resumed Schabusiness appeared remotely via a video feed.

This is not the first time Schabusiness has attacked her attorney in court. In 2023, Schabusiness attacked another lawyer during a pre-trial hearing in her murder case.

Schabusiness’ latest charge stems from a July 2024 incident when she allegedly attacked a nurse in prison.

Schabusiness allegedly lunged at a nurse and swung a metal tray at her while having a staple removed from her arm, according to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE.

She later told officers she jumped out of surprise due to the pain of the tweezers being used to extract the staple, and could not recall anything after that.

A not guilty plea was entered on Schabusiness’ behalf in court on Friday. Her lawyer did not respond to a request for comment, and court records show he withdrew himself from the case on Friday afternoon.

Schabusiness was convicted in 2023 of murder, rape and mutilating a corpse in connection with the Feb. 2022 death of Thyrion.

Schabusiness told investigators with the Green Bay Police Department the two engaged in 𝑠e𝑥ual intercourse after taking methamphetamine, which turned violent when she said she began to choke her lover.

Once dead, Schabusiness 𝑠e𝑥ually assaulted Thyrion before mutilating and chopping up his body with a “bread knife,” per the complaint. His mother later found his head and genitalia in a bucket, according to the complaint.

Schabusiness, 27, never denied the charges against her and did not take the stand in her defense, though she did enter a plea of “not guilty” by mental disease or defect.
