With a voice that can soar from Broadway-style ballads to powerhouse pop, Britain’s Got Talent 2024 winner Sydnie Christmas lit up London’s Adelphi Theatre with a concert that felt like a feast of voices. Mixing heart, humor, and sheer vocal talent, Christmas proved why she’s one of the most exciting new stars to emerge on the West End stage.
Throughout the evening, the singer guided the audience through a carefully crafted setlist that blended timeless classics with theatrical showstoppers and emotional crowd-pleasers.
Opening with My Way, she established her powerful yet intimate connection with the audience before moving into Tomorrow, a reminder of her musical theatre roots. Starlight Express showcased her Broadway versatility, while Over the Rainbow offered a tender, soul-stirring pause in the middle of the night.
Christmas shifted gears with selections from The Greatest Showman, raising the energy in the room before astonishing the crowd with her spine-tingling take on Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing.
Later, she surprised fans with a raw, rock-infused cover of Imagine Dragons’ Believer, a number that revealed her ability to handle contemporary material as powerfully as the classics. For her encore, she returned to My Way, bringing the concert full circle in a triumphant close that had the entire theatre on its feet.
From start to finish, Christmas displayed not only vocal excellence but also the storytelling skills of a seasoned performer. Between numbers, she charmed the audience with anecdotes, humor, and heartfelt reflections on her journey from aspiring performer to BGT champion. The mix of laughter, silence, and thunderous applause revealed just how deeply her performance resonated.
And for Sydnie Christmas, this is just the beginning. Later this year, she will join Oscar and multi-award-winning lyricist Don Black CBE in his brand-new revue show From The Heart. Debuting at London’s Fortune Theatre on 26 October and 2 November, the revue will celebrate Black’s six-decade career with music spanning everything from James Bond themes like Diamonds Are Forever to Broadway staples like Sunset Boulevard.
Christmas will share the stage with Preeya Kalidas (Four Lions, Bend It Like Beckham), Clive Rowe (Guys and Dolls), plus two other star performers and a surprise guest. Directed by Nick Winston with musical direction by Nick Barstow, the revue will bring Black’s catalog to life in the style of the great New York cabaret shows that inspired him. As Black himself explains, “A song can do more in three minutes than any other art form. From the Heart they come and to the Heart they go.”
For Sydnie, stepping into this next project feels like a natural continuation of her breakthrough year — one that has seen her rise from a TV talent show hopeful to a bona fide West End star.
