About Charlie Kirk’s Death

Charlie Kirk was shot by a lone gunman while speaking at a tour stop at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10. Kirk was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at the age of 31.

A manhunt and investigation ensued, eventually leading authorities to arrest 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.

In a press conference on Friday morning, Utah Governor Spencer Cox and the FBI announced Robinson’s arrest and detailed what led to the identification of the shooter.

Authorities said that a family member, later identified as Robinson’s father, recognized Robinson from photos that had been released and reached out to a family friend. That friend contacted the sheriff’s department and FBI. After speaking to the suspect’s roommate who provided them with evidence of Robinson’s involvement in the shooting, Robinson was taken into custody at his parents’ home in St. George, Utah.
