Richard Goodall, the “Singing Janitor,” Won America’s Got Talent In 2024
The world fell in love with 55-year-old school janitor Richard Goodall when he first auditioned for America’s Got Talent.
In his audition, before he even sang, the judges loved his charming spirit and his shyness. They hoped he would be good, but they didn’t expect what came out of his mouth!
After just the first few words, judge Simon Cowell’s jaw dropped.

By the end of the audition, Goodall had the entire theater on their feet, and he moved Heidi Klum to use her Golden Buzzer on him.
His talent and his lovable personality kept him soaring through the competition, all the way to the finals, where his final performance was with Journey members, including co-founder and lead guitarist Neal Schon.
Later that night, host Terry Crews announced Richard Goodall as the winner of America’s Got Talent!
